ePortfolio Rewrites the Rules for e-Learning in the UK
The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) advice to learning communities in the UK paints a vision of ICT as a core element of delivering and assisting learning for all UK learners from all parts of society. A clear component of this vision is that each learner should have their own personal learning portfolio online, where work-in-progress, exemplar completed work, and more can be stored and accessed from any connected platform. With this in mind, Wolverhampton City Council and Spider Networks teamed to deliver such a service to learners in the city.
Wolverhampton City Council boasts a progressive Local Education Authority, keen to exploit the latest technologies as a means of helping them improve student achievement. They are involved in a wide range of groundbreaking initiatives, including an intelligent resource locator for students, and a handheld device implementation, allowing students wireless access to their learning materials and resources from anywhere in the city.
Dundee City Council - Education
The aim of Dundee City Council's Education Department is to develop effective learning for all learners at all stages. The Department strongly believes that if Dundee is to stabilise its population and create the right conditions for sustained economic growth, parents must see the City as a place where they will be proud to bring up their families, and where young people can develop their full potential.
